Universal Box — Troubleshooting Guide
Start with the checklist — it resolves most issues in under 2 minutes
Quick Checklist
- Box is powered on (power switch on, LED illuminated)
- Remote switch on back is turned on
- Harness connector is fully seated on the box
- All harness leads are connected to attachment coils
- Machine hydraulics are flowing to the attachment
Troubleshooting Table
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Box not turning on | Battery discharged | Charge with laptop-style charger — wait until charger light turns green before use |
| Remote LEDs not turning on / flashing | Dead batteries Remote switch off |
Replace AAA batteries in remote Check the switch on the back of the remote — make sure it's turned on |
| Box not pairing to remote | Low power on box or remote | Confirm box is fully charged and remote has fresh batteries Press the green button on the remote and listen for relay clicking in the box |
| Attachment not moving | Relays not clicking No hydraulic flow Blown fuse Loose connection Faulty coil or valve |
Press remote buttons and listen for relay clicks in box Verify hydraulic flow is directed to the attachment Check the fuse inside the box — replace if blown Check all harness connections are tight If all above checks out, test coils and valves |
| Wrong function activates | Connectors on wrong coils | Swap coil connectors on the attachment and re-test |
| Intermittent / cuts out during use | Loose connection Vibration |
Check all harness connections and re-seat firmly Secure harness to prevent vibration from loosening connectors |
| Weak or slow attachment movement | Low hydraulic flow Partially blocked valve |
Check machine hydraulic pressure and flow settings Inspect attachment valves for debris or restriction — this is not a Skid Sync issue |
Testing a Coil With a Multimeter
If a specific function doesn't activate and all connections are confirmed good, the solenoid coil itself may be faulty. A multimeter check takes 30 seconds.
- 1Unplug the coil lead from the Skid Sync harness.
- 2Set your multimeter to resistance (ohms) mode.
- 3Touch the probes to the two terminals on the solenoid coil.
- 4Good coil: 8–40 ohms. Open circuit (OL): burned out — needs replacement. Zero ohms: shorted — needs replacement.
Re-Pairing the Remote
- 1Power on the Skid Sync box (power switch on, LED illuminated).
- 2Press the green button on the remote.
- 3Test the other buttons to confirm the remote is controlling the box — you should hear the relays clicking for each press.
